The Electronic Metering Device (EMD) is the lowest-friction way to bring an installed base of diaphragm gas meters into the Data Platform: the meter body stays, and the metering head adds telemetry, remote shut-off and anomaly detection. Metrology and telemetry run on independent power circuits, so communication does not draw on the metrology supply.
