5 or 10 years on a single battery
Engineered for fully autonomous operation — 1200 or 2100 reporting sessions warranted with no field maintenance.
Built-in SIM with prepaid traffic
Ships with cellular connectivity included for the full battery lifetime — no separate operator contract or activation needed.
Sub-second sessions
Each reporting session completes in under one second so the data packet cannot be intercepted, and average current draw stays at 0.003 mA.
Hourly reading archive
On-device buffering keeps an hourly history of consumption for billing analytics and gap-free reporting after coverage outages.
Tamper and location protection
A magnetic watchdog, server-side IMEI binding, and location-change detection block shielding attacks, module swaps, and unauthorised relocation.
Zero-touch deployment
No configuration — installers just enter the initial meter readings and the device self-registers with the platform.
VADTel AIoTU5 is the residential-tier member of the VADTel telemetry family. It is purpose-built to retrofit existing household gas, water, and electricity meters with secure cellular telemetry — without a separate connectivity contract, without on-site configuration, and without scheduled maintenance visits for the lifetime of the battery.
Once installers enter the initial meter readings, the device self-registers with the VAD IIoT Platform and begins reporting on schedule. Each session completes in under a second, keeping the energy budget low enough for years of unattended operation while preventing interception of the data packet.
On top of metering, AIoTU5 logs hourly consumption locally, measures ambient temperature continuously, and guards against tampering with a magnetic watchdog sensor, server-side IMEI binding, and location-change detection — so utilities and platform operators get billing-grade data plus a defensible audit trail.
The hardware is engineered for utility-room conditions: PCBs use immersion-gold plating with conformal varnish coating, a low-temperature Li-Po cell keeps the module reporting down to −35 °C, and an adaptive retry algorithm protects the energy budget when the cellular network is temporarily unavailable. Each unit ships with a barcode for automatic identification and an internal APN table that supports all major GSM operators out of the box.
