IoT/IIoT Expertise for Telecom Partners
VAD offers telecom operators, system integrators and OEM manufacturers EU-manufactured industrial IoT for utility metering, infrastructure telemetry and remote monitoring services. The portfolio spans smart gas and water meters, autonomous pressure and temperature sensors and the IIoT Platform — the central software component of the VAD IIoT Ecosystem.
Engagement spans device adaptation, embedded firmware, secure cellular telemetry and back-office integration. One technical foundation supports four commercial models: OEM integration, product customization, source-code transfer under escrow and Full IP transfer.
Why It Matters
Utility digitalization across the EU and CEE is reshaping the telecom value chain. Water, gas and heat operators face new regulatory pressure: the Drinking Water Directive (EU) 2020/2184 introduces dynamic monitoring obligations from 2027, and the EU Methane Regulation 2024/1787 requires gas distribution operators to measure, report and reduce emissions with auditable data. Procurement decisions bundle device, platform and connectivity into single contracts. Connectivity providers with a vertical-specific IoT portfolio behind the SIM win contracts that connectivity alone cannot reach.
What Telecom Partners Need
Most telecom operators, system integrators and OEM manufacturers do not build utility-grade metering hardware in-house. The standard route — sourcing devices from one vendor, adapting them to local protocols and certifications, validating long-life battery operation, integrating a cloud platform — takes years and binds the partner to that vendor’s roadmap.
A faster route is a single supplier whose architecture is its own, whose source is transferable, and whose commercial terms accommodate rebranding and product customization without functional lock-in. VAD operates on that model. The IIoT Platform manages over 100,000 devices across 10+ countries, with multi-tenant architecture and role-based access control built for partner-led deployments.
IoT and IIoT Device Portfolio
The device range spans utility metering and autonomous pressure and temperature sensing. Every product runs on long-life batteries, connects cellular-first and carries EU certification.
Electronic Metering Device (EMD)
The Electronic Metering Device is a digital counting head for mechanical diaphragm gas meters. It retrofits to existing meters, adds pulse and RS-485 output and brings legacy hardware into the IIoT Platform without meter replacement. The device runs dual independent power supplies — one for metrology, one for telemetry — supports GSM, NB-IoT and LTE-M, and is MID-certified per Directive 2014/32/EU. VAD offers hardware manufacturers a turnkey adaptation path.
VADTel-MT-G6
The VADTel-MT-G6 is a smart gas meter family with micro-thermal measurement — a solid-state measurement path with no rotating elements. Three flow variants cover residential through commercial use. The meter reports over GPRS or NB-IoT, runs on a dual-battery architecture and includes a built-in solenoid shutoff valve. MID-certified to EN 17526:2021 for fiscal use.
VADTel-WM-15
The VADTel-WM-15 is a DN 15 mechanical water meter with integrated cellular telemetry for residential and light commercial AMR and AMI applications. The meter reports into the IIoT Platform for fleet monitoring, archive access and consumer-facing analytics.
VADTel-SENS
The VADTel-SENS is an autonomous pressure and temperature sensor with cellular telemetry for utility and industrial networks. Applications include gas, water, heat, hydraulic, pneumatic, oil and fuel-related deployments where the sensor configuration is compatible. Pressure trends also support indirect leak detection. The sensor is ATEX-rated to II 2G Ex d IIC T6 Gb X for Zone 1 installation and reports over GSM, GPRS and NB-IoT.
IIoT Platform
The IIoT Platform is the central software component of the VAD IIoT Ecosystem — an environment for telemetry acquisition, monitoring, reporting and operator workflows. Deployment options include managed cloud at iot.vadsro.eu, private cloud and on-premise on customer infrastructure. The platform supports multi-tenant operation with role-based access control, integrates with external systems through a documented REST API and offers per-tenant branding for white-label deployments. Telemetry from any VADTel device aggregates into one fleet view, with dashboards, alerts, archive access and compliance exports.
Key Advantages
- Single EU manufacturer for devices, firmware and IIoT Platform — one supplier, one certification chain, one technical contact across the stack.
- Cellular-first device design — combinations of GSM, GPRS, NB-IoT and LTE-M across the portfolio, configured per device and aligned with mobile-operator connectivity packages.
- Long-life autonomous operation — battery designs deliver 5–10 years on metering devices and up to 8,000 communication sessions on the VADTel-SENS sensor.
- EU certification baseline — MID per Directive 2014/32/EU on metering devices, ATEX II 2G Ex d IIC T6 Gb X on VADTel-SENS for Zone 1, CE marking and WEEE compliance throughout.
- Multi-tenant IIoT Platform with role-based access control, per-tenant branding for white-label deployments and a documented REST API for back-office integration.
- Transferable source code — partners can take ownership of device firmware and IIoT Platform code under escrow agreement or Full IP transfer, defined by contract.
Collaboration Models
VAD supports four engagement formats for telecom operators, system integrators and hardware manufacturers. Every format runs on the same technical foundation — the VAD IIoT Ecosystem — and is defined by contract.
OEM Integration
VAD hardware shipped under partner branding, integrated with the partner’s connectivity and back-office stack. Device firmware, identifiers and packaging are configured to the partner’s product line. Suitable for telecom operators expanding into managed IoT services and for distributors building a connected-metering portfolio.
Product Customization
Device firmware, enclosure, labeling and IIoT Platform UI adapted to the partner’s vertical, region or end-customer requirements. Common customization scopes include protocol additions, regional certification packs, language localization and back-office integrations. VAD retains ownership of source-code modifications unless escrow terms apply.
Source-Code Transfer Under Escrow
VAD device firmware and IIoT Platform source code deposited with a neutral escrow agent and released to the partner under predefined trigger conditions, with local-production support on release. Used by partners building sovereign deployments or operating in regulated markets where source-code transfer under escrow is a procurement condition.
Full IP Transfer
Complete transfer of hardware designs, firmware and IIoT Platform source code, with local-production support. Reserved for national telecom operators and sovereign deployments where full technical independence — including unconditional ownership of the device and platform stack — is a procurement condition.
